OM/NI Submission Guidelines – Emerging Division
All applications and materials are due by March 31st, 2023
Qualifications & Eligibility
All applicants must be from 17-25 years old as of March 31st, 2023
2023 Competition instrumentation is for a solo acoustic guitar only. Emerging Division applicants may submit scores that include electro-acoustic components via digital audio for playback.
Emerging division competitors may submit 1 (one) piece or a small suite of pieces, no longer than 6 (six) minutes in total.
Scores may be neatly handwritten or engraved in a music notation program and saved as a PDF.
Free music notation programs include: Finale Notepad, Score Cloud, MuseScore, Lily Pond, Musink Lite, Musette.
Commercially available music notation programs include: Sibelius, Finale, Magic Score, Dorico and Forte.
Audio files (live performance or digital rendering) may be submitted along with your score, but are not acceptable substitutes for music notation.
Electro-Acoustic submissions must include 2 (two) audio files - the audio for the performance and a 2nd track including the tempo click track for rehearsal purposes. Both tracks should be CD quality stereo mp3 files.
Be sure that your score includes each of the following:
Your name
Approximate performance time
Title of your piece
Any required tempo markings and dynamics
